April 26, 2012 - Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the free Portal 2 DLC titled "Perpetual Testing Initiative" will be available for the PC and Mac on May 8th.

The "Perpetual Testing Initiative" allows players to easily create, share, and play Portal 2 puzzles. The Initiative comes with a simplified puzzle maker that allows that creation of mind-bending puzzles without ever leaving the game.

The puzzle maker can directly publish maps to the Steam Workshop where users can browse, vote on, and select to play them. Selected puzzles will automatically be downloaded and installed inside Portal 2.

Portal 2 holds a Metacritic score of 95% and has been awarded numerous Game of Year awards. It features expansive single and cooperative multiplayer game modes.

There's actual Game footage of Pyro's Trailer in it. Does that mean Pyro's trailer is coming 8 May too? Does that mean that Then The SAAA (Second Annual Saxxy Awards) will start too?

what will all of us advanced mappers do now! :(

In all seriousness, won't this just dumb down users for the next generation of mapping? (serious question)

No. The Editor is handy for us good mappers to test a layout. The Editor only has one look to maps, which will make full-hammer-made-maps stand out.

Just wondering, do the map creator look anything like the one displayed in the trailer? Does it have the same way of functioning? Does it have the same cartoonish style? What about those small gimmicky things (black stick-men in the windows, etc.)?

All of the above. One thing I really liked about it actually, was when you tied a button to another object, a little love heart would float above the object.

    Ahh, the little things :)

    Splat.

Good question. They'll be tones of shit, but since it's so easy to use, anyone with any actually good ideas will be able to create a publish them in 1000th if the time that it would take in hammer.

Oh yeah forgot to mention, the maps optimize and light themselves. REALLY well.
